چکیده

During the past two decades, geographic information systems (GIS) have played a more significant role in the realm of science. This paper reviews some representative approaches about the integration of GIS and hydrological modeling. Among the different kinds of hydrological modeling this paper will mainly focus on urban flooding modeling, surface water quality modeling, and groundwater vulnerability modeling. Additionally, existing problems and potential solutions will be discussed.

Integrating Satellite based Remote Sensing Observations with SCS Curve Number Method for Simplified Hydrologic Modeling in Ungauged Basins

Accurate estimation of spatial and temporal distribution of the water resources parameters is a crucial for hydrologic models. During the last decades, engineers and planners have shown keen interest in applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and satellite based Remote Sensing (RS) technologies to extract land surface parameters, which acted as a threshold in early days, to obtain reasona...

Integrating Dynamic Spatial Models with Discrete Event Simulation

Dynamic spatial modeling addresses computational aspects of space-time process modeling. The types of processes it is meant to deal with are commonly found in Earth and biological sciences, such as hydrology and ecology. Geographical information systems (GIS) are a popular tool for modeling these application areas. A GIS provides spatial data structures, query capability and functions to manipu...

Integrated Application of Remote Sensing, GIS and Hydrological Modeling to Estimate the Potential Impact Area of Earthquake-Induced Dammed Lakes

Dammed lakes are an important secondary hazard caused by earthquakes. They can induce further damage to nearby humans. Current hydrology calculation research on dammed lakes usually lacks spatial expressive ability and cannot accurately conduct impact assessment without the support of remote sensing, which obtains important characteristic information of dammed lakes. The current study aims to a...

Integration of a Three-Dimensional Process-Based Hydrological Model into the Object Modeling System

The integration of a spatial process model into an environmental modeling framework can enhance the model’s capabilities. This paper describes a general methodology for integrating environmental models into the Object Modeling System (OMS) regardless of the model’s complexity, the programming language, and the operating system used. We present the integration of the GEOtop model into the OMS ve...
